Agust 24-28

Happy First Full Week of School!

All Classes (Grades 7 & 9-12)

Thank you for bringing in your supplies and learning the routines of a new school year.  I am looking forward to chapel on Wednesday this week and hope that you are too.

Our English classes will begin with spelling and vocabulary this week.  The tests in each grade will be given on Friday at the beginning of class.  I have metioned bonus opportunities for your students and I hope they will take advantage of them.  We have these tests nearly every week and poor performance on them can make it very hard to maintain a good class average.

We will begin using all of our books during each class period as well.  Grammar, spelling, literature, and your composition notebook.  Remember to bring "Every book.  Everyday."   Thank you for being prepared.

Finally, please familiarize yourself with the handbook.  Make sure you are following the dress code, hair policy, and jewelary policy.  Also, read the attendance and discipline policy to familiarize yourself with those routines and procdures.

Thursday & Friday

Congratulations! You have finished your achievement tests and are one step closer to completing the school year!

Stay focused.  Work hard.  Finish well.

These three together make a strong life message:

  1. Ecclesiastes 9:10 — Work with all your might
  2. Colossians 3:23 — Work as unto the Lord
  3. Galatians 6:9 — Don’t give up in doing good

They form a complete picture of Christian diligence, purpose, and perseverance.

Thursday & Friday (May 14 & 15)

*These assignments are designed for you to discover how to do something by using your resources instead of step-by-step instructions.  be resourceful.  use what you have at your disposal to complete the task.  many of you use your phones during the day to make posts, tik toks, be reels etc...this time use your mad tech skills to complete a graded assignment without breaking the rules.  You can do it! I believe in you.

9 & 10 Grades:  You were to have completed reading Gathering Blue by today.  You will now make a movie trailer for the book.  Mrs. Hodge will give you the assignment criteria.  You have two days to complete this assignment.  It must be shared with me by Sunday evening at 5:00 PM on Teams. This is your last grade of the year.   Below, you will find the criteria/rubric.  Have fun!

7th Grade:   On Thursday, finish reading the play we started before testing. Sherlock Holmes is an interesting character!  Are you as observant as he is?   You will be making a movie trailer for the play.  Mrs. Hodge will give you the assignment and it must be submitted by Sunday at 5:00 PM via Teams.  This is the last graded assignment of the year.

8th Grade:  You have an option as to which story/character/scene you will use for your final graded project of the year.  Mrs. Hodge will give you the assingment.  This is not to be completed with others and should be completed during class the next two days.

11th Grade:  Finish the project you began before testing started.  It should be completed and left in my classroom when you leave on Friday.  I am anxiosu to see what you come up with with.

I am including the actual worksheet here (below). You will not need paper for this assignment, and you won't have to keep up with the rubric either.  It will be completely digital.
